Everyone's Mother

We have all been everybody’s mother…

Based on a true story, Everyone’s Mother is an intensely personal, solo theatre work, that uses story, song and humour to explore the interconnected lives of a group of ‘Mothers’.

The main character is a woman who was adopted at birth in 1963 and in 2019 finds herself mothering a young girl from Nepal.

The solo show explores the beliefs, expectations and cultural assumptions that our society embeds in ‘motherhood’ and our culture’s obsession with the ‘importance’ of biological motherhood.

Everyone’s Mother explores ‘Motherhood’ in all its ‘complexity, subjectivity, possibility and impossibility’, to create a challenging yet loving, touching and unique story that goes beyond culture, beyond belief and beyond time.
